Life and Times of Ian Morley-Clarke
Ian Wentworth Morley-Clarke, 1927-2005.
Son of Maj Francis Edward Morley-Clarke and Vera Dagmar Bates. Educated at St.Piran's Maidenhead and Wellington College Crowthorne Berks. Father of Richard (dec'd), David and John Morley-Clarke. Grandfather of Joanna and Michael.
Army career 1943-1955. Queens Royal Regiment. Captain. Publisher of over 700 (mainly hard back) book titles. Founder of Midas Books, Nutshell. Spellmount and Para Press. Wide range of titles from life and times of famous musicians to art, social history and militaria.
Ian was a great and often humourous raconteur and one of the books he published was 'Rorke's Drift' a battle immortalised by Michael Caine in the film Zulu. Ian was always justifiably proud of his military connections and also the fact that he trained Micael Mickelwhite as he was then known while he was at Stoughton barracks.

Sport: Played hockey for combined services where he once burst an appendix and was given the last rights at the end of the match but went on to play for the Army, Kent, Berks, Tramps and Captain Guildford, Beckenham and Tunbridge Wells. Played cricket for Grasshoppers CC, Invalids CC, Speldhurst CC, Berks Gents CC and Blues CC. He had a remarkable innings that finally closed on the 8th Jan 2005 the day before his 78th birthday.
A funeral service will be held at St.Marys Church, Worplesdon at 2.30 on 24th January.
